I live in Jackfield, Ironbridge with my Husband Bill Caddick who is a songwriter and musician and occasionally our son Tam who is studying at Bangor university, We also share our lives with a border collie called Salsa, a siamese cat called Loki, a siamese cross called Pan and three Chickens...I have probably used every member of the household in my work several times over... except the chickens! (but there's still time...)
I have a degree in Art (3D Design-Glass) and a postgraduate diploma in Art Therapy from Goldsmiths college, University of London. I grew up in Telford and decided to return here to work after establishing myself as a freelance Illustrator and designer/maker of handmade greetings cards in London,
my Artistic influences include Chagall, Blake, Kit Williams and Arthur Rackam
My work is primarily inspired by themes of fantasy, myth and legend. Unicorns, dragons and mermaids are often a feature, I am a member of the Association of Illustrators and recently illustrated a book of international stories published in English and Spanish by storyteller Tim Bowley entitled ‘Seeds on the Wind’.
I'm currently working on the covers for a series of Regional Folktale books for The History press, the first one of which was published early in 2009 as well as a number of commissions for individual clients.
I also work part time at Madeley Academy as a support Artist and display technician, teach Arabic dance one evening a week and have just started to work occasionally as an Art therapist again (phew!)
There are, you may have noticed, a great many cats featured in my work... I love them, they are wonderful to draw and have a feeling of wildness and freedom about them I like in my paintings and in my living room too (except when they steal the chocolate raisins and spray on the sofa...)
I like to use words as well as images in my work and often borrow lines from Shakespeare and Blake and also from my husband Bill, whose songs are a great source of inspiration in addition to quotes and poetry of my own, my most cherished ambition is to write and illustrate a children’s picture book.
For me there is no challenge more exciting than to bring a story to life with pictures
